I have just started offering limited edition prints of land and seascapes.  These paintings are inspired by Scotland and the Lakes.  I was born in Glasgow and have been painting since 2000.

Artist - Colin Bailey

Colin Bailey is a UK artist and printmaker living and working in Hastings, East Sussex after living in Rye for ten years and Kings Cross, London for fifteen years.

A fine art oil painter and master etcher with a love of traditional painting and printmaking methods, techniques and skills, and with a printmaker's instinct for multiple images, Colin also utilises modern fine art technology and uses digital photography to capture pictures, views images and scenes that he translates into iconic paintings and etchings of the local area.

Artist - Dick Twinney

Originally from Teignmouth in Devon, Dick Twinney has lived and worked from his Cornish Studio in St. Columb Major for nearly 40 years. Having a great passion and interest in our wildlife, coast and countryside from an early age, he has made it his goal in life to share this enthusiasm with others through his art and writing. 

His highly detailed realistic artwork has gained international recognition and over the years he has provided illustrations for over 25 books by some of the worlds leading publishers, including Collins, Longmans, Macmillan and Readers Digest. His wildlife art has also featured on many series of collectors plates, greetings cards, giftware and prints

Although his art has spread worldwide and his books published in different languages he prefers to be known as a local artist confining, by choice, his exhibitions and shows to Cornwall and the West Country. 

Refusing to follow any trends in art or turn to a more contemporary style of painting he continues to paint in the traditional style of the artists he grew up with, especially Archibald Thorburn and Charles Tunnicliffe whose work he has emulated and been inspired by since childhood.

His work has featured in many newspapers and magazines including the Sunday Times, The International Artists Magazine, Country Life and here in Cornwall The Cornish Guardian, The West Briton and the North Cornwall Advertiser.

He now has a regular weekly spot, The Art of Dick Twinney in the Western Morning News daily newspaper.

Dick prints and publishes his own Giclee limited edition prints from his St. Columb Studio using the very latest technology and only genuine Epson pigmented inks on archival paper.

He has written and illustrated two books of his own, The Painted Seasons and From Hedgerow to High Tor and is now in the middle of a third which will be entitled Wildlife and Waterways. This will feature some of Cornwall and Devon's rivers  from source to sea and the wildlife to be found in and around them.

Dick has his own Wildlife Art Gallery at his Studio in St. Columb Major where he welcomes visitors and you can see and discuss all his latest artwork including work in progress, but please phone first.

Artist - Tom Henderson Smith

An adopted Cornishman, Tom grew up mostly in Yorkshire and was educated there and at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University (BA Hons. Fine Art 1971). Two years in Italy, initially on a Bunzl Scholarship were followed by seven living in Bath, training as a teacher in Bristol and starting out teaching art in London. 

Moving to Cornwall in 1980 he worked as head of art at Mounts Bay School until the opportunity to relaunch his painting career came in 1999.

Able to take up painting again he found that, in West Cornwall, he was living in exactly the right place to do so because it's an area whose landscape and culture are second to none in the UK.

Through paint on canvas and charcoal on paper Tom's has recently explored what he calls the lived-in landscape of Cornwall. Celebration of vibrant street festivals and other community events are another recurring theme.

Artist - Ben Yate

I originally trained as an engineer and then went to drama school, all the while experimenting with different forms of art including painting, digital photo-editing, paper art and sculpture involving electronics. Whilst I was touring Europe with a theatre company, I developed my interest and skills in photography, and spent the following few years thinking about a new way to market my shots.

In 2005 ‘Photo-Cubism’ is what I came up with – a technique of mounting each picture 3-dimensionally giving each piece a uniqueness otherwise lacking in the medium.  Each extruded picture becomes an abstract colour study, or an optical illusion, changing appearance as the viewer walks around or towards it. The grid pattern formed by the blocks draws the eye around the construction of the piece, engaging the viewer in an exploration of the subject.

I aim to challenge the art of photography and meld it with different media and art-forms. My work is modern and intricate, yet simple, vibrant and fun.

I am living and working in Liverpool, but I was born in Russia, then spent several years living in Australia, New Zealand and Spain before coming to the UK.

Artist - Jude Robinson

Jude Robinson was born in Bolton, UK, and spent most of her life in the Lancashire area.  She had always loved being creative from a very young age, her mother kept the detailed artistic drawings she did from when she was just 4 years old.

As a teenager, Jude was intent on furthering her art career but unfortunately life took her on a different path.  When her working life abruptly ended due to a spinal injury, she moved to the beautiful countryside on the Shropshire/Powys border in the UK with her husband and young children.

Due to her disability, Jude found that painting and drawing became very therapeutic.  She undertook a course at Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology in oil painting and now her passion for all things art has been reborn.  

Jude particularly loves capturing landscapes, seascapes and skies which are inspired by the countryside surrounding her.  

Jude Robinson has now become a successful artist selling many of her paintings and completing several commissions for clients across the UK.  She will be exhibiting her work in 2011 in local galleries and be seen on our website   exhibitingartists.com

Artist - Louise Mcnaught

The main undercurrent to Louise's work is the journey of the Soul, and the spiritual messages we get through moments of clarity and dreams. In essence, her work is quite symbolic in nature and the subject matter tends to have a surrealist depiction to it, though the messages behind the pieces are often strong and very real.

Dreams are essentially in another dimension, another paradigm, another 'reality'. Louise was often labelled a 'dreamer' as child by teachers and by friends, often gazing out of the window in lessons or 'in her own world'. Dreams have become very important to her and in her work, as she has very vivid dreams of which she feels often symbolically hold important messages within them. She feels they can often express your inner truth, as dreams deal with suppressed emotions, our inner most fears and desires, that perhaps could not be dealt with at one time as they were too much, too 'real'.

These 'messages of the soul' or 'messages to the soul' are what inspires her, and paint is the medium which feels she can express herself and the messages most clearly and imaginatively. There is often bold us of colour within her work, as she wants her paintings and sculpture to grab the viewers attention, and carry the strength of the message though the canvas.

She believes art is a gift that should be shared with others, as it is not just a gift for the person who possesses it. It is another form of communication, that has always seemed beautiful and almost magical to her, the way it can transcend and move people. Her work may come across as surreal, dream-like and perhaps 'other worldly', but the reality of the message behind them is usually deep and poignant . To her, the Soul's journey though life is the most important subject one could deal with.

Steve is a self taught painter working mainly in acrylic since 2008.  "I have had solo shows and group exhibitions, and I was also commissioned in 2010 to produce a public-art work for Plymouth city-centre".

Artist - Mark Bennett

Mark grew up in Cheltenham and started painting from a young age but didn’t start exhibiting until his early twenties.  Since then each exhibition has been more and more successful and his paintings can now been seen throughout the country on a regular basis.

Mark’s paintings are filled with emotion and desire - most focusing on tango dancers or scenes from bars, restaurants and cafes.  His work is very mature for an artist of his age, many have described him as a rising star in the art world.  Mark’s pieces have been compared to the likes of Fabian Perez and Jack Vettriano.  Mark now lives in the Cotswolds with his wife Emily.

Artist - Jonathan Shepherd

I was born in Derbyshire in 1961 and continue to live high up in Matlock Bath with glorious views over the surrounding countryside. After leaving school at 16 I served an apprenticeship as a plumber before joining my father in a picture framing business (PEAKLAND ARTS). It was during this time that my interest in painting was kindled and I taught myself to paint, initially in acrylics and watercolours but now mainly in oils.

In 1991 I took over the framing business from my father and continue to run it to this day, although a lot more time is spent painting now. I have won several painting competitions including the Derbyshire Pro Loco Painting competition final which is a culmination of paintings done in various villages throughout Derbyshire which all have to be finished on the day and are then voted for by the public.

After several exhibitions my work is in collections in the USA , Australia and Europe as well as the UK. I mainly paint landscapes of Derbyshire and other rural areas of the UK but of late has been experimenting with other subjects and painting styles.
